Last month I excitedly made the two-hour drive to Virginia Beach for Michelle and Chris's big day! I didn't know when I arrived that it would be a teal and coral paradise! Okay, it wasn't complete overdone in teal and coral, but my two favorite colors? It was meant to be! Not to mention, the bride and groom were so laid back and go with the flow--they were pretty open to anything I wanted to try.

With the beach of course came the wind, but even so we made it through -- and for one particular photo, the wind helped so much! Check out the pictures from the day!

Call me a sap, but my favorite thing about weddings (other than the photos) is two families coming together as one! My biggest hope for when I get married is that I'm as close with my husband's family as I am with my own. And I loved capturing this photo of Michelle's mom hugging her new son-in-law. And the below picture of Chris's sister welcoming Michelle to the family.

How stinkin' cute are the flower girl and ring bearer?!

Ahhhh! Probably my favorite picture. The time the wind really worked in our favor! Look at that dress! Isn't this stunning?

Congratulations Michelle and Chris! Thank you for trusting me to capture your day. Here's to so many more years of memories for you both.

Hey y'all! A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of helping plan out a sweet gender reveal for one of my work friends. Megan is one of the sweetest people I've ever met and it was so much fun to be part of this exciting moment in her and her husband's life. I remember how back in February she was telling me how badly she had baby fever. So when she told me she was pregnant, I thought I was going to cry (I may have teared up a bit).

A few Wednesdays ago, Meg left work early for her ultrasound. This was the big one! But she told the doctor's office to call one of our co-workers and tell her the gender of the baby. I was so excited when Allie walked out and said, "Guess who I just got a call from?" I jumped out of my chair and Allie was sure I was going to tackle her. I just can't help it. I love babies!

So we rejoiced in the middle of the office, students and teachers walking by, probably staring at us like we were crazy. And I was so happy that we were doing this little shindig the same night because I could not have kept that secret for long.

So we kicked Meg and Scott out of their own house, decorated and set up the box with the hidden balloons inside. But what color would they be? They'd soon find out.

Soon they were back home, where we were ready with our cameras, got set up to Facetime with their families, and then... surprise it's a...!

Graham's so excited to be a big brother!

See? He's already so involved!

First thing's first, gotta set up Facetime with the family. Meg was so bummed not to have everyone there. But since family was so far away, this was the best option.

Got a quick shot of this little cutie because I could.

And what is it?

It's a girl

She'll probably be so mad at me for posting these, but I couldn't help it. There's so fun!

And to close it out, a sweet picture with baby Caston. I can already tell she's going to be a wonderful mother.

Congratulations on your baby girl, Meg and Scott!

Hello, hello! Day two of my snow days and school is cancelled for tomorrow. Thank you very much, Central Office. It's nice not having to wake up super early and fight the cold and snow to go to work. Not to mention worrying about whether or not I can get my car up and down the hill in the neighborhood. Yikes!

After posting yesterday, I got the idea that I needed to do a "Fab Find" since I haven't done one yet, and I had something really cool I wanted to tell y'all about!

If you're a book lover like me, and you have some kind of e-book device (nook, kindle, etc.) then you definitely need to sign up for BookBub

All you need to do is click on the link and type in your email address! It will ask a few questions, such as what kind of technology you have, like I have a nook, and then you get to choose the different genres you're interested in and voila! You get daily emails about different e-book deals. Some will be marked down to $2.99, $1.99, .99, and even FREE!

So if you're okay with getting just one more piece of mail in your inbox, then check this out. If you don't like it or use it after a little while, then it's no problem to unsubscribe. But I've been getting emails for about a week and I've downloaded a lot of great books!

Thanks for reading!

I think you can tell by both the title and the weather that it is in fact, a snowy day. I have cabin fever already. And not because I choose to ever go anywhere, but because I know that I can't even if I wanted to. Crazy the way your brain works, huh?

Anyway, I wanted to share -- even though I already posted on Facebook about it. But (drumroll, please), on Tuesday, my principal came up to me to let me know I'd been picked as staff member of the month! Kinda big, considering I've been there for three months. Kinda giddy about it. So for Varina, we have a large V painted blue and gold for our colors, and we get to proudly display the V for the month and then sign it before handing it off to the next person chosen. I'm not sure who chooses who gets the V, whether it's just administration or everyone votes, but it's an honor either way!

Mom thought the V was rusted. (Insert unimpressed emoji.) No, mom, it's just painted.

In addition to bragging on myself for a minute, I wanted to do a little "fun dump" because it seems like in the last few days I've seen a lot of funny pictures. Not that it's unusual to do so, but I just found myself wanting to share a lot.

So if you find yourself stuck inside, bored, or suffering from cabin fever, remember this snake and this person trying to cook have it worse than you!

And now, for just some cute/funny things I felt the need to share.

Anyone who knows me knows I love a good joke!

Have a good one, y'all!

Hello internet world! Miss me? I've missed writing. Obviously not so much where I felt compelled to hop on and write, but more so in the way where I laid in bed and said to myself, "Hey, I should really post to my blog." But here I am! Finally doing it after so many months of silence.

I swear it's my priority to get on and blog more. And I know I say that all the time, but I'm extremely sincere about it this time. (No sarcastic comment on how that will not happen.)

Anyway! I figured I'd go ahead and fill y'all in on what's been happening in my life lately. Since I last posted, I've gotten a new job -- been there about ten weeks now -- at my old high school. I love it. LOVE. IT. I feel so much more free than I did at my last job. I love the staff that I work with, and a typical work day doesn't feel like a typical work day. Yes, sometimes it's a little stressful because I can get bombarded with a ton of work at once, and other times it's extremely relaxed because I have nothing to do. But I like that about it. It's never the same.

In the last few weeks I've been;

  • Teaching myself calligraphy. Well actually, it's more like faux-lligraphy, but it's fun! And pretty!
  • Singing a lot more. Like all the time. Which, if you know me, isn't much of a surprise. But it's probably been multiplied by ten.
  • Thinking about taking up guitar lessons. Well not formal lessons, more like me, a guitar, and YouTube videos.
  • Writing songs. Yes -- writing songs. Not very good songs, but songs nonetheless.
  • Writing period. I stopped writing for a little while, probably because I was just unhappy with where I was in my life. I lost muse and inspiration. But in the past few weeks, I've slowly been coming back to it.
  • Growing out my nails, and aside from the fact that they need to be painted, they look FABULOUS.
  • Trying, keyword trying, to go to church more. Got off track for a few weeks, but getting back in gear.
  • Looking up tons and tons of recipes that I want to try. Maybe I'll actually cook something.
  • Sorely missing Harry Potter. Call me whatever you want, but after seeing Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them my heart hurts for all things HP.
  • Rocking around the Christmas tree, and playing with my new Silhouette Cameo machine! I've been obsessed with it since I got it for Christmas. I've been playing with it, reading up on tutorials, researching different things I can make with it. It's been my whole life for the past 48 hours and it's been amazing.
*Please enjoy the selfies as seen above. And the pictures of my new favorite toy below (:

Look how pretty! I knew the second I saw the big box what it was. :D

Spent all day yesterday and today playing around with it, finding designs I loved and all that jazz. With purchase of the Cameo, I got one month's free subscription to the Design store, and a $25 credit. Well, now I'm down to $15 because I've already bought a bunch of designs and fonts!

The first monogram/thing I made! Gentry felt super honored to be the first.

And then of course I had to pretty up my machine with a bow monogram, and I wouldn't be me if I didn't have a mermaid something, so I added her to my computer.

Now the only thing I need to work on is naming my cameo. Suggestions are gladly appreciated! (It's definitely a girl, I mean come on, she has a bow.)

Thanks for humoring me, friends! Until next time (:
